Course Teacher

Course Design:
Write a compelling course description emphasizing a unique, tending focus.
Develop an 8-week syllabus that balances structure with flexibility, incorporates student interests (e.g., cups, vases, bowls), and reinforces the fundamentals through exercises, muscle memory, and clay reuse techniques.
Instruction:
Deliver 2-3 hours of engaging, hands-on instruction per week (one session), guiding beginners with no prior experience to success on the wheel.
Teach techniques for centering clay, adjusting posture for longevity, and processing practice clay for reuse.
Studio Management:
Prepare materials (clay, tools, wheels) before each class.
Clean up the studio after sessions, ensuring a tidy and functional space.
Track class wares (student projects) through drying, firing, and glazing stages.
Student Support:
Act as the primary point of contact for enrolled students, answering questions about techniques, progress, or studio logistics via email, phone, or in person. Prepare materials (clay, tools, wheels) before each class.

Hours: 5.5 hours/week/class (3 hours of instruction, plus prep, cleanup, and student support) Salary range ($20-$30/hr) As availability allows, teachers can teach up to 4 courses a session.

Proven experience with wheel-throwing and/or hand building techniques.
Teaching or mentoring experience (formal or informal) preferred.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Enthusiasm for working with beginners and fostering a creative, inclusive environment.
Ability to manage time effectively across instruction, prep, and cleanup.
Monitor

Are you a passionate ceramics enthusiast looking to deepen your skills, gain hands-on experience in studio operations, and contribute to a vibrant pottery community in Fort Collins? Join our Educational Volunteer Monitor Program! This 8-week opportunity provides practical learning in ceramics techniques, teaching, and studio management while supporting our open studio sessions.
Role: Educational Volunteer Monitor – Gain real-world experience overseeing open studio hours, mentoring participants, and learning the ins and outs of running a professional pottery studio.
Responsibilities:
Arrive 15 minutes early to prepare the space (unlock, set up lights/music/tablet/whiteboard).
Greet participants, track attendance, assist with clay/tool sales, and answer policy questions.
Offer guidance on techniques, lead group demos, discuss projects/trends, and mentor others (great for building teaching skills!).
Lead cleanup, mop floors, and secure the building at close.
Follow safety protocols and maintain confidentiality

Hands-on access to studio materials (clay, slips, stains, glazes) and kiln firings for your personal projects and experimentation.
Studio practice time during daytime hours and your shifts to advance your own work.
Priority access to in-house workshops and continuing education opportunities.
Develop skills in ceramics instruction, studio management, and community building—all for personal enrichment!

Workshop Teacher

Role: Lead themed workshops that bring creators together, blending instruction with a shared creative buzz.
Responsibilities:
Open the studio, set out stools, fill buckets, gather tools, and greet participants with enthusiasm.
Teach with care, ensuring wares shine—soften bottoms, label trays, and prep for firing.
Clean up—stack stools, wipe tables, mop, and lock up, leaving a space others can enjoy.
