Hello! I’m Heather, and my family and I have called Colorado home for three years. We love Fort Collins—its mountain access, perfect weather, and vibrant community. My formal education is in Art Education and Ceramics from Miami University and I have 15 years of experience as a technician, teacher, artist-in-residence, manager, and clay director at non-profit art centers across the Midwest.
I love sparking creativity in kids through clay, dreaming up playful projects that ignite their imaginations. Teaching adults is just as rewarding—sharing potter’s wheel techniques and innovative clay practices to inspire lifelong making. Safety is important too, rooted in my training. I’m often chatting about managing clay dust or crafting food-safe glazes.
When I’m not in the studio shaping art or teaching classes, I’m chasing my two little ones (a joyful handful!) or cheering at CSU games with my family. I can’t wait to welcome you to A Potter’s Place!

We have a fantastic 2,400-square-foot+ space in Fort Collins, CO, perfect to call your go-to clay studio! We have it fully equipped with everything you need to bring your clay creativity to life: 16 electric wheels, a slab roller, top-quality clay, vacuumed pug mill, double-jar ball mill, and over 10 food-safe glazes. We’re working hard to finalize all the details and make this spot into a welcoming haven for community artists, with front-door parking and a schedule packed with classes and open studio sessions.
